From Light + Airy to Dark + Moody: The Easiest Lash Room Makeover You’ll Ever Do
Why moody interiors are making a major comeback—and how to nail the look with just a few bold changes
For years, “light and airy” dominated the salon world—think white walls, gold accents, and blush pink everything. But as trends evolve and client expectations shift, there’s a bold new aesthetic taking over: dark and moody interiors. Equal parts elevated and intimate, this aesthetic is about creating a sanctuary that feels luxe, grounded, and memorable.
The before, and after!
We recently took the plunge and transformed one of our lash rooms from bright and breezy to sultry and sophisticated—and the results were stunning. Below, we’re breaking down exactly what we did, why it worked, and how you can easily recreate the vibe in your own space.

Why Moody Interiors Are Making a Comeback in Salon Design
Moody doesn’t mean dreary—it means depth. Rich tones and layered textures instantly create a sense of warmth and sophistication that white walls simply can’t. Clients are craving more than just a treatment; they want an experience. A moody lash room offers:
• Instant luxury – Dark tones feel expensive and cocoon-like, elevating the overall treatment experience.
• Calming ambiance – Dimmer palettes help reduce overstimulation, making clients feel more relaxed during services.
• High visual contrast – When done right, moody spaces draw attention to key elements—like your bed, your branding, or retail displays.

How We Made the Switch
This transformation didn’t involve a complete renovation—just a few intentional updates that made a dramatic difference.
1. We painted it all: Sherwin-Williams Urbane Bronze
The biggest shift came from swapping our soft neutral walls for Sherwin-Williams’ Urbane Bronze—a deep, earthy charcoal with warm undertones. It immediately grounded the space, adding richness and depth.
A huge thank you to our kids for being so eager to help!
Pro tip: Paint the ceiling and trim too. It blurs the boundaries and makes the room feel like a luxe jewel box.
2. We added plants—but made them sculptural
Instead of cluttering the room with small planters, we chose two statement plants with dual benefits:
• A snake plant, known for air purification and its vertical, sculptural leaves.
• A ficus, placed at a medium height to balance the room and soften corners.

The varying heights add visual interest and life without feeling chaotic.
3. We layered in texture with a cowhide rug
To break up the matte finish of the walls and floors, we introduced a natural cowhide rug. It adds just the right touch of organic texture and warms up the dark palette. Texture is key in moody spaces to keep things from feeling flat.
4. We made the bed the focal point: Enter the Vera 360 by Plush + Oak / Brynn Ergonomic Salon Bed
To contrast the Urbane Bronze walls, we introduced our Vera 360™ Ergonomic Bed (shade: Cashew), and the Brynn Ergonomic Salon Bed in the shade Fawn. The soft, light neutral instantly pops against the moody backdrop, drawing the eye straight to it.

The effect? The beds doesn’t just fit in—they own the room.

Final Thoughts: Go Bold, But Stay Intentional
Switching to a dark and moody lash room doesn’t mean starting from scratch—it just means being thoughtful about color, texture, and flow. Start with one dramatic change (like paint), then layer in your furniture, greenery, and tactile accents.
And most importantly, anchor your space with a standout piece that defines the experience. In our case, the Vera 360 became the centerpiece—and made the room feel like a whole new world.
